Customers? More of the same please

Customers are the lifeblood of any business. Making sure there’s a steady flow of work and orders is a top priority for sales and marketing teams across the world.

But what if the sales and marketing team is just you? Or your fellow director or partner? This is a key issue for many small business owner managers.

So if you are looking to expand your customer base, try and keep things simple and start with what you know – your current customers.

Make a list of your current customers. This could be according to their sector if you deal with other businesses. Or according to their age/demographics if you’re in the consumer market.

You might be a courier offering confidential delivery services to accountants, solicitors, architects etc. But are all local solicitors aware of your services and/or could you expand the geographical area that you cover.

Reaching out to sectors or demographics that you already deal with is a great way to build your customer base. You can take advantage of all of the knowledge that you have gained and apply it to similar – but new – customers.
